Local Studies

You can find our Local Studies collection in the Hayward Room on the second floor. We have a huge range of books about Guernsey and the Channel Islands, with subjects covered including the Occupation, folklore, local wildlife, local history, and much more.

If you're a visitor to Guernsey, you can read the books here or, if you'd like to borrow them, sign up for a temporary library card at Reception.

Doing more in-depth research? Try the Priaulx Library, the centre of excellence for local studies in Guernsey. While our collection covers general interest books about the islands, unique and specialist items are held at the Priaulx. Together, the two libraries work to ensure that the people of Guernsey can discover, share, and celebrate their heritage.
