ChatGPT for students

AI can be an exceptionally useful tool for students. Large language models like ChatGPT can help you with research, explain complex concepts, help improve your writing, and even check your work for biases or suggest different perspectives. Stanford professor Erik Brynjolfsson has described ChatGPT as "the calculator for writing."

But ChatGPT also has serious limitations that all students should be aware of. Check out our infographic for some tips and advice on how best to use ChatGPT in your studies.

AI Art

Generative AI tools like DALL-E 2 can turn text prompts into images. The results can be extremely impressive - so much so that it's sparking a fierce debate about our definition and understanding of art.

When using AI tools to generate art, it's important to be aware of some significant practical and ethical problems, particularly when used as part of your studies:

  • It requires a lot of power to generate a single image, which could have environmental implications.
  • It draws from original artwork without the consent of the artist.
  • The copyright of AI art is ambiguous - it's not yet been established whether the prompter owns it, the company behind the art generator, or the artist or artists whose work has been used to generate it.
